What are DNS records
I record DNS (Domain Name System) are to our domain as our telephone book is to our telephone: the telephone (the domain) is always the same, but the nature of the phone call changes depending on the number we dial. In the same way, our browser will "talk" to one service rather than another depending on that address written in the DNS records.
DNS records actually manage a lot of information, including some that are important for security, but it is not the purpose of this post to delve too deeply into the topic.

Changing DNS records requires propagation time
It is useful to know that after applying changes to DNS records, you will need to wait for a propagation time. The DNS records are in fact located on the DNS server, but are "propagated" to various other systems and memories globally.
Why? The Internet network is worldwide and therefore is always at its maximum extent. The cache memories and the network hubs require indications and the records are copied into various hubs in order to always have the indications ready in the shortest possible time.
When we go to change a record, there will be a time within which all copies of that record must be updated, a time that can vary from a few minutes up to 48 hours.
How do I edit DNS records from our cPanel?
The cPanel is designed to simplify all possible operations on our web hosting as much as possible and changing the DNS is no exception.
- Let's click “Zone Editor”
- We then click "manage" corresponding to the domain we want to operate on
- Finally we click, as needed:
- “Edit” mismatch of the record we want to modify
- “Delete” corresponding to the record we want to delete
- “Add a record”, if we want to add a record
In the typical case ofadding a TXT record for Google Site Search to verify domain ownership, we will only have to write the domain name in the first field and the required record in the last field and click "Save Record".
