This article is aimed at those who have wondered why every year a sum is paid for the renewal of the web hosting and one for the renewal of the domain and why the two renewals can take place on different dates.
EVERY WEBSITE NEEDS AT LEAST 2 SERVICES TO WORK: domain and web hosting.
Each service has a price and a separate item on the invoices, both for the first purchase and for renewal. The two items can both be on the same invoice or on separate invoices, especially when the renewal of the domain and web hosting take place on different dates.
The domain
Similar to a telephone number, the domain is what you type on the browser to reach the website (or emails): it connects our computer with the web hosting services dedicated to that domain name.
The domain is made up of two parts: Top Level Domain (TLD) e Second Level Domain (SLD).
In the case of easygreenhosting.com
- .com is the TLD
- easygreenhosting is the SLD
Why do we explain this distinction? Why all domains are managed by different organizations called Domain Name Registry, divided according to the different TLDs.
Just to give a couple of examples, NIC.IT manages .it domains; NIC.DE manages German .de domains and so on.
Domain Name Registries interface with us through called organizations Domain Name Registrar, whose function is to manage all the individual domains of any TLD for final services such as Easy Green Hosting and to interface with the various Domain Name Registries: each registrar is connected to many registries and is essential for the management of any domain, as the "Registries" interface directly only with the "Registrars".
The registration of the domain is therefore not managed directly by us but by the registrars to which our system is connected and the The expiration of the domain always occurs on the day of the year in which the domain was registered.
In the event that a domain was registered for example on January 7th while the web hosting was activated on August 1st, the customer will be charged two invoices, one expiring on January 7th and the other on August 1st.

The amount you pay for the registration, transfer and renewal of your domains goes almost entirely to the registrars we use. We have decided not to speculate on those services.
Web Hosting
The second element for a site to work is web hosting, i.e. the server that manages all the site data, for example WordPress and emails and this service is directly managed by Easy Green Hosting.
Is it possible to have only a domain or only web hosting? Ideally yes, but in that case there are 2 possibilities:
- a domain without web hosting will not give any results when typed into the browser (it would be like dialing a non-existent telephone number);
- web hosting without a domain cannot be reached by typing the domain name into the browser (as if calling an existing number to which no telephone is connected).
This is because the domain registration acts as a bridge between the domain itself and the assigned service and therefore it goes without saying that without one or the other, it will not be possible to visit the website.
