It is very important to keep WordPress updated.
Wordpress is the most used Content Management System in the world and this makes it one of the most desired victims of hackers, who once found a flaw, can easily infiltrate different installations with little effort.
Updates are the first thing to do to prevent cyber criminals.
However it sometimes happens that once the plugin update is started, WordPress gets stuck on this page:
It’s a pain in the code, but it happens.
The causes can be manifold.
For example, there are plugins that, when activated, prevent wordpress from ending updates correctly.
How to fix?
Delete the file .maintenance from your WordPress directory.
You can do this in 2 ways:
- Who has access to cPanel will have to delete the .maintenance file from the WordPress root directory using File Manager.
- Those who do not have access to the cPanel (owners of Easy WordPress or WordPress Commerce) can request a FTP access.
With FTP you work on the files of your wordpress directory without the need to access WordPress and it is done through an FTP client (we recommend FileZilla).
Tahank you and … stay Green!
